Reply tips

How to answer Google reviews the right way.

A few habits that keep replies helpful, professional and within Google's rules. Treat every draft above as a starting point and edit it to match the real review.

Reply to every review, not just the bad ones

A short thank-you on a five-star review is a public signal that you read what customers say. It also keeps one bad review from being the only place your voice shows up.

Be specific, then keep it short

Mention the kind of job or the tech by name when it fits, then stop. Two to four sentences reads better than a long paragraph, and every reply should sound like a person wrote it.

Take complaints offline

Thank the reviewer, show you take it seriously, and invite them to call or email your office. Don't argue, don't share job details, invoices or addresses, and don't admit fault or promise refunds publicly.

Never trade perks for reviews

Don't offer discounts, gift cards or free service for a review or for changing one. Google's policies and the FTC's consumer review rule don't allow it. Just ask happy customers to share their honest experience.

Free review audit

Rather have every review answered for you? Start with a free audit.

A person on our team reads your public Google reviews and emails you a short, plain-English audit within 2 business days. Here's exactly what's in it:

  • Whether your recent reviews have owner replies, based on what we can see publicly on Google Maps without signing in.
  • Your star rating and review count as shown on your Google profile.
  • Profile activity: whether posts, photos, and basics look current.
  • Sample replies written for real unanswered reviews we can see. Use them as-is or edit them.

Free, with no card and no obligation. We only look at what's public on Google Maps; we don't need access to your account. If you have fewer than 3 unanswered reviews, we'll write replies for the ones you have.

Is this review reply generator really free?
Yes. It's free to use with no sign-up and no email required. Generate as many drafts as you like.
Does anything I type get sent to ReplyWrench?
No. The generator runs entirely in your browser. The business name, reviewer name and other details you enter are never sent to us or anyone else, and they aren't saved after you leave the page.
Is this AI?
No. The drafts come from reply templates we wrote for home-service businesses, mixed and matched based on the star rating and what you tick. Always read and edit a draft before posting it so it fits the actual review and sounds like you.
How should I reply to a negative Google review?
Keep it short and calm. Thank the reviewer, show you take it seriously, and invite them to contact your office so you can look into it privately. Don't argue, don't share job details, and don't admit fault or promise refunds in a public reply. Decide on any remedy privately once you know the facts.
Can I offer a discount if a customer changes their review?
No. Google's review policies don't allow offering incentives in exchange for reviews, and the FTC's rule on consumer reviews bans incentives tied to writing a review with a particular sentiment. Keep public replies free of discounts, gift cards or freebies.
Should I reply to positive reviews too?
Yes. A short, specific thank-you shows future customers that you read every review and appreciate the people who leave them.
Can ReplyWrench reply to our reviews for us?
Yes. Our Reply plan is $79/mo: every new Google review is answered within 24 hours in your voice, and bad reviews come to you before anyone replies. It starts with a 14-day free trial, is month to month, and you can cancel anytime.
Is ReplyWrench part of Google?
No. ReplyWrench is operated by WAZO LLC and is not affiliated with Google LLC.
